Prerequisite – grade equivalent 6 completion, student is fluent with basic operations: addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division. Additionally, students should have experience working with fractions and decimals.

Course Description:

This course will review the basic operations of arithmetic on whole numbers, fractions, and decimals. These operations will be used in dealing with ratios, proportions, percentages, simple Geometry, and Algebra. As students master these basic concepts, they will move into basic Algebra.

Students will be expected to understand basic operations with integers, rational numbers, irrational numbers, and real numbers; using variables; properties of numbers and equality; solving equations and inequalities; problem-solving; relations and functions; and polynomials. Students will learn graphing techniques and work with slopes. 

Students will understand and use the basic properties of the real number system. They will solve problems involving signed number operations, simple equations, and order of operations.
